We're looking into NT/W95 file access to VMS public directories. I pulled and installed the 132 kit but can't figure out how to connect to a VMS public directory without knowing an account on that machine? Is this possible and if not let me strongly recommend it as a valuable feature. Thanks and Regards Harold Henry

Hello, You can find the FTSO 1.3 Kit for Windows NT & 95 Intel platform at location : AEOENG::FTSO$PUBLIC:FTSO_NTI_0132.ZIP >> I pulled and installed the 132 kit but can't figure out how to >> connect to a VMS public directory without knowing an account on that >> machine? If you are talking about to connect a VMS public directory throught the Graphical User Interface, yes, you need to describe a VMS account. Files are transfered throught the FTP protocol. FTP always needs a username and password, for that reason you need to precise a VMS account. You can use the FTP Anonymous account to transfer your files, or you can use the FALL$SERVER account if you know its password (ask your administrator for more information). Uselly this account is the owner of the VMS public directory. Thanks and regards Emmanuel RINN [email protected]
107.2 | How can we get this access? | OGOPW1::HENRY | Tue Apr 08 1997 18:36 | 14
Thanks for the quick reply. I'd hoped for a yes. There is a WWW perl script developed internally that allows users to access VMS public directories w/o knowing a password. Of course this script runs on Web server with DECnet also installed but it provides an invaluable service for non vms users who want access to these files. <<File: home.html>> http://www-sms.zso.dec.com/~ridder/decnet-2.0/home.html Whats the process for requesting this kind of access via FTSO.
