42.0. "OMT V2.0 licensing rules" by SOS6::BERNARD (Bernard Ourghanlian, Alpha Resource Center) Mon Feb 03 1997 05:36
OpenVMS Management tools V2.0 is now available for download from the
OpenVMS Web page. That's great. But I've some questions about the
licensing rules :
After reading the cover letter it appears every customer is supposed to
contact Datametrics to get a licence for the ViewPoint licence : why
Digital do not sell these licences ? I would be much easier for the
customer to buy (especially outside of USA). This is exactly the same
thing for Bristol and the Win32 APIs.
Do we have a corporate license for ViewPoint ? Or are we supposed (as
Digital employees) to contact Datametrics to get the license ?
Why don't we create a software package called something like "Windows NT
affinity package for OpenVMS" with a SINGLE part number the customer
can order to get all the client licensing stuff (including the
Archive/Backup Client) ?
