6413.1 | TSAM on DECNET/OSI not supported | DSVB03::TABONE | | Fri Dec 08 1995 09:11 | 12 |
| Hi Paolo,
Sorry, TSAM on DECnet OSI is always not supported.
In fact, as we are only in maintenance mode, we cannot do
this new functionality without any funding.
If you (or other people) are interested to that, please
contact me (and/or Joel Stunault DECmcc Project Leader at
taec::stunault) by mail to get more information.
Regards,
Philippe Tabone - DECmcc Maintenance Team -

6413.3 | OSI is a customer need, so where is it? | SEDSWS::BRODIE | | Mon Jan 29 1996 13:23 | 6 |
| Has the support to OSI been completed yet please? It is a touch
difficult to explain that our customer's nice little DECmcc platform
somewhat reduced in it's overall functionality by going to the
'UPGRADE' path. As for funding!!!!

As .1 pointed out, DECMCC is in maintenance mode.
I suspect that the answer as to why there is no more development could be
very complicated, especially since Digital has two competing NetMgmt
products.
Polycentre/Netview and TeMip
Both run on D_unix, but one is a port of a competitors product, the other is
DECMCC, grown up and now delivering what it promised 3 years ago.
The answer is probably more to do with Internal Engineering politics than
any real technical reason.
If you liked MCC, but thought it was too clunky, then try TeMip, MCC's big
brother.

6413.5 | Sorry not yet, but maybe a day... | DSVB03::TABONE | | Tue Jan 30 1996 08:45 | 17 |
| Hi Alan,
The problem is not that we don't want to do this work, we are here
to work. But, as you maybe know, there is an API between MCC and TSM,
developed by TSM group. This API provides an interface for DECmcc to
send TSM requests and get answers to/from TSM.
As we have not this source code, we need the help of the TSM group to
port it to manage TSAM on OSI. For now, we have not it and it was why
we asked for some funding. You understand that a modification of that
API is also a modification of the TSM product.
For now we are working to see how we can provide this functionality
for the next DECmcc version if possible. I think you will hear from
us very soon.
Best regards,
Philippe Tabone - DECmcc Maintenance Team -
