6396.0. "Suggested SNMP alarm rules?" by DV780::SMITHG () Thu Nov 02 1995 20:05
I'm currently working with my customer to add some additional
network devices to our alarming environment. Specifically, I'd like to
ask for any input on suggested SNMP traps to monitor via alarm rules.
Looking through the MIBs offers lots of information, but I'd like to
begin with a "short list" of the most valuable information to alarm on.
The devices we're adding are:
1. DECconcentrator 500's
2. DEC LANbridges 2xx (updated to support SNMP)
3. DECserver 90m (probably only interested in ip reachability and link
down/up on the servers but open to suggestions)
4. Cisco 7000
5. Larscom Access-T CSU/DSUs
6. Craycom 4810/4856 CSU/DSUs
Any experience with what to alarm on for these and/or a sample alarm
expression would be great. We do have all the vendor MIBs loaded
(including ours) so we should be able to support any enterprise
specific traps you suggest.
Thanks, Gary
