Hi all, I have a customer that is trying to produce a ring map in decmcc. When he trys to display downstream/upstream neighbours info on 500/600 concentrators it does not display any mac address..The screen displays "unknown"..Apparently the customer claims that when he displays upstream/downstream neighbours info for 900mx, and hewlett packard concentrators decmcc displays correct mac addresses. Customer is running firmware version 3.4A on 500/600 concentrators as well as 1.3.0 of decmcc..Is this a DECmcc problem or a mib problem..Thank you for responding in advance! Regards, Kevin Culp (NSU TEAM)

Definitively a mib problem. DECconcentrator 500 and DECbridge 6XX speak RFC 1285 ( old fddi mib ) and DECswitch/bridge/conc 900 speak RFC 1512 ( current fddi mib ). Tree and variable names have changed between the 2 versions, so if you try to request a new variable on an old agent, you get the <Unknown Entity> message. I guess you just need to compile the 2 versions of the mib on DECmcc and choose the right request, depending on the remote agent. Guy. |
