Hello, in which mode do I have to create the logical names for DECmcc ? For example I have to use the logicals MCC_DNS_CONF and MCC_DNS_CONF_MAX. Do I have to define these logicals as process logicals, or (as I did) can I use these logicals system wide : $ ! $ DEFINE/SYSTEM/EXEC MCC_DNS_CONF "LOW" $ DEFINE/SYSTEM/EXEC MCC_DNS_CONF_MAX "MED" $ ! $ Is there any documentation about logicals used by DECmcc and their behaivor ? thanks for help Ralf.

Hi Ralf, You can define these logicals in the user process just before starting $mana/ent. For logicals check MCC documentation V1.3. Documentation was not changed for DECmcc V1.4. Hope this helps, Benoit
6389.2 | Does MCC search through tables ? | FROCKY::WIESSNER | Ralf Wiessner, Solution Integration Center FRS | Fri Oct 20 1995 13:21 | 14 |
Hi Benoit, the customer is using DetMCC, so the MCC-Image is running as a detached process. So the only way to give it the MCC_DNS_CONF logicals is via the system logicalname table. The question is, does MCC lookup only the process tables for the logical, or does MCC use the search list through process, job, group and at last system-logicalname table ? Thanks, Ralf.

Hi Ralf, MCC does not limit the searches : it searches from process to system table. I do not know what DetMCC is doing. You can verify that logicals defined at system level are taken into account by using an interactive session. Hope this helps, Benoit |
