6388.0. "iconic map goes way after DIRectory" by SALUD::ORTIZ () Mon Oct 09 1995 19:41

    I have a customer running VMS V6.1 and MCC V1.4. When they do a
    DIR on a registered Terminal Server or a PHASE IV node in the ICONIC
    MAP, the map goes away. No error message is generated. He is using
    the local mir and MCC_AUDIT showed no resource issues.

    Are there many issues with MCC 1.4 we don't know about?

    Thanks,
    RO

6388.1What do you do ?DSVB03::TABONETue Oct 10 1995 15:398
Hello Richard,

Sorry, I don't understand what you mean by DIR under ICONIC MAP.
Thank you to explain me what you do exactly.
Is there other directives which fail or only this one ?

6388.2Directory steps in iconic mapSALUD::ORTIZTue Oct 10 1995 17:4110
    Philippe,

    	I am sorry that I wasn't clear. The customer will click on a
    Terminal Server entity or a DECnet phase iv entity. He would then go to the
    operations and pulldown to DIRECTORY for the selected icon and the map
    would go away. Doing a DIRECTORY is the only directive that causes
    this.

    Thanks,
    Richard
6388.3Problem not reproducable !!DSVB03::TABONEWed Oct 11 1995 14:2623
Richard,

I see what you do, but I can't reproduce that problem on my systems.
I've tried with a well registered entities and even with a partial
registered entity but no problem : the directory directive runs
correctly !

You said that the problem appears with terminal server and phase IV.
What is the behaviour with other entities (collector, reference,
SNMP, etc..) ?

What is the behaviour using FCL ?

Does MCC run in MIR mode or DNS ?

Does the customer changed something in the configuration ?
Is a new problem (or first use), or does this directive run before ?

There is certainly something wrong or corrupted in the customer
system. Could you investigate more at your customer site ?
