6384.0. "MCC_S_EVENT_GET_DELETED - What does it mean ?" by CHEFS::THORP_A () Fri Sep 29 1995 13:22

Hi all !

This is the first time I've written to this conference so I'll post a brief
introduction at the end of this note as I couldn't find an introduction note.

The problem :-

A GETEVENT with a timescope of infinity terminated with the CVR
MCC_S_EVENT_GET_DELETED.

There is no description of this CVR in Appendix D of the Developer's Toolkit
Reference guide.

I assume it was returned from the mcc_event_get() call issued by the AM,
the one liner in the SRM for this CVR is "Event request structures have
been deleted".

At the time several GETEVENTS were outstanding on different Network Element
classes (all serviced by the same AM) - only one GETEVENT returned the above
error, the rest carried on collecting events as normal.

About 24 hours later another GETEVENT terminated with the same error.

The two GETEVENTS which terminated were collecting node and link events. We
have around 4000 nodes/links and receive far more events on these objects than
any other NE class.

This leads me to suspect we are hitting some kind of resourcing problem.

If anyone knows about this problem, could they please answer the following :-

Which event request structures are being deleted ?

How do we stop this happening ?

The customer (ENERGIS) are planning to go live with this release within a few
weeks so we need to resolve this ASAP.

The events are used to update our expert system's view of the network, it's
essential we don't lose any !

Thanks in advance,

Andy

Intro :-

I've been working on the ENERGIS project within the NMS Systems Integration
group at the Solent Business Park in the UK since 11/95.

My main task has been to develop a PM to interface our expert system to
TeMIP.

I was also contracted by Microtel (now Orange) a few years ago to help
them in their attempts to distribute MCC via a suite of MMs. If anyone
is planning to use TeMIP to manage a PCN or GSM network, I may be able
to help.

If there is an introduction note, could someone please let me know where
it is, if there isn't maybe the moderator could create one.
