6357.1 | DECmcc on VMS6.2 not yet supported. | DSVB03::TABONE | | Wed Aug 09 1995 18:53 | 27 |
| Hello Mic,
Please find below the official statement from DECmcc Product Manager.
"This may be a normal occurance since DECmcc V1.4
has not been tested or qualified on OpenVMS V6.2. It is currently qualified on
version 6.1 of OpenVMS for VAX. If you would like to have this problem
resolved, we can do it, however, at this point in time, it would be a paid
consulting effort. If you are ready to pay such a fee (approx. $15 K), then we
can schedule a time for it to be done."
For more information about that, please ask directly to Susan at
ulysse::Pomerleau
But, I can tell you that another customer runs DECmcc with the following
configuration (he has some problem using DNS but no crash of MCC).
OpenVMS V6.2, DEcnet/OSI V6.2 DNS server V2.0 and DECmcc BMS V1.4-1.
That's run correctly after the upgrade of VMS in a system already running MCC.
From scratch, there are some problem with DNS.
Maybe you have a configuration problem !
Hope this help you.
Best regards,
Philippe

6357.2 | local namespace? Motif? | DPDMAI::GALVIN | The Energizer Bunny's Trainer... | Thu Aug 10 1995 01:56 | 20 |
| Phillipe,
>>> maybe you have a configuration problem...
Don't think that is is. I am, however, running local namespace, which
sounds different from what you describe and as a matter of fact sounds
too familiar... you state the customer has a DNS problem? Please share
more...
What is the version of Motif your friend is running? I have seen
numerous failures, using all different types of entity classes, ie:
SNMP, CMIP, etc.
Regarding certification on OpenVMS V6.2 for MCC... I would hope this is
forthcoming... many clients appear to be headed in the UNIX direction.
This also would point them at TeMIP and/or PNV, yes?

6357.3 | The problem is in MCC not in DNS. | AZUR::DURIF | | Thu Aug 10 1995 09:59 | 16 |
| Hi Mic,
>From scratch, there are some problem with DNS.
Philippe did not wrote the problem is IN DNS.
In fact it is not a run time problem. Users trying to init new DNS server V2
for use by MCC have problems because MCC procedure creating DNS directories
is not up to date.
I do not know customer config but we have stations running VMS 6.1
and Motif 1.2-3 without problems.
Hope this helps,
Benoit
