6344.0. ""Insufficient dynamic memory" when enabling alarms" by CSC32::J_RYER (MCI Mission Critical Support Team) Wed Jul 12 1995 23:32
Customer running VMS V6.1 and MCC V1.4 on a VAX is seeing these errors
if he tries to enable "too many" alarms. With the default value of 100
for the sysgen parameter CTLPAGES, he was able to enable about 250
alarms. By bumping up that parameter to 200, he was able to enable
about 350 alarms. He wants to enable around 500 alarms, and is looking
for guidance on whether that is indeed the appropriate parameter to
be increasing, and what the formula is for deciding how high to set it.
The errors that he's seeing are:
%DEBUGBOOT-W-EXQUOTA, exceeded quota
%CMA-F-EXCCOP, exception raised; VMS condition code follows
-SYSTEM-F-INSFMEM, insufficent dynamic memory
He ran MCC_AUDIT.COM and the only parameter that it suggested that
he increase was PQL_MASTLM (currently set to 100; recommended that
it be higher than 600). He will reboot system with that parameter
changed later today but asked if in the meantime we would try to gather
any information or recommendations that we could.
Thanks,
Jane Ryer
