6342.0. "PNM V1.3 -> PNM V1.4 with new options ??" by MARS03::THOMAS () Tue Jul 11 1995 12:00

	My customer uses:
	. VMS V5.5-2,
	. DECnet V5.5-2,
	. UCX V2.0,
	. DNS V1.1 A with 49:: as prefixe,
	. POLYCENTER Network Manager 200 V1.3 with DNS as the MIR, and without
any private SNMP MIB,
	. POLYCENTER Extended LAN Manager V1.3,
	. VITALINK Bridge Access Module V1.2.

	He wants to upgrade this system and manage (events) his DECnet/OSI nodes
that use 39:250:00001D010001 as prefixe. He doesn't want to use any longer DNS
with MCC and no use of DNS with DECnet/OSI.

	So, i have to upgrade his system to:
	. VMS V6.1,
	. DECnet/OSI V6.1 with LOCAL,
	. DEC TCP/IP Services V3.1,
	. PNM V1.4 with LOCAL MIR,
	. PELM V1.4,
	. VITALINK Bridge Access Module V1.2.

	I plan this upgrade like that:

	1) i use @MCC_COMMON:MCC_DUMP_NS.COM to save all the current managed
entities (node4, bridge, snmp, translan, reference, domain, collector) in the
procedure SYS$LOGIN:MCC_LOAD_NS.COM. I edit this file to change "directory"
information: i want to put in the future LOCAL MIR all DECnetIV nodes in .node4
subdirectory and all DECnet/OSI nodes in .node5 subdirectory.

	2) i use MC MCC_ALARMS_EXTRACT_RULES to save all the alarm rules in the
procedure file SYS$LOGIN:MCC_ALARMS_RULES.COM. I edit this file to change 
"name_space:" by "LOCAL:".

	3) i use @MCC_COMMON:MCC_MOVE_MAPS.COM to save the maps with the
procedure SYS$LOGIN:MCC_CONVERT_MAPFILES.COM.

	These 3 procedures will be run in 10), 11) and 12).

	4) i upgrade VMS V5.5-2 to VMS V6.1.

	5) i install DECnet/OSI with 39:250:00001D010001 as prefixe.

	6) i install DEC TCP/IP SERVICES V3.1,

	7) i install PNM200 V1.4 with LOCAL MIR, with the replacement of the
dictionary, 

	8) i install PELM V1.4,

	9) i install VBAM V1.2,

	10) in PNM line mode, i execute SYS$LOGIN:MCC_LOAD_NS.COM to populate
(entities) the LOCAL MIR,

	11) in PNM line mode, i execute SYS$LOGIN:MCC_ALARMS_RULES.COM to
populate (rules) the LOCAL MIR,

	12) i execute SYS$LOGIN:MCC_CONVERT_MAPFILES.COM to get the good maps.

	13) i run PNM in X11 and i will get all the previous environment.

	
	Is my process OK or is there any error in my process?
