6337.0. "DECmcc on Alpha/VMS???" by DPDMAI::GALVIN (The Energizer Bunny's Trainer...) Wed Jun 28 1995 21:52

POLYCENTER NETWORK MANAGER 400 on Alpha/VMS
      		-------------------------------------------

I'm sure this question has been posed before... probably by me 8^)...
Will we be supporting DECmcc on an Alpha/VMS platform? We've used
Alpha DEC3000s as display stations, with a CLIENT/SERVER to a VAX
platform... but, we want to move on to a faster processor.

I realize that POLYCENTER NETWORK MANAGER is in maintenance mode,
but do we plan on supporting the Alpha platform?

I know about TeMIP. The client has purchased that as well. This is
for another group. Also, is there any "co-development" work going
    on between PNV6000 and DECmcc?

    thanks,

6337.1New features to come on OpenVMS ???FROCKY::WIESSNERRalf Wiessner, Solution Integration Center FRSThu Jun 29 1995 11:2822
Hi Mic,

I attended the DECmcc Usergroup-Meeting in Nice 3 weeks ago. Part of it was a
workshop, in which the customers should give statements about the most wanted
functions on the future release!!! of DECmcc for OpenVMS (VAX or AXP was not the
main discussion).

Susan Pomerleau, DECmcc Product Manager, told us, DECmcc is not longer in
maintenance mode only, they do further investments for new functionality.

This statement was realy new to me, even though I'am working to get a statement
to this issue since start of 1995 !

I'am also wondering, that the result of the Usergroup-Meeting is not presented
in this conference or anywhere else....

I think Product-Management should comment clearly on this.

I attended the DEcmcc User Group meeting as well, representing the
Dutch users and I am unpatiently waiting the minutes of the meeting
    myself.

Susan seems to be on holiday: no reply to mail nor phone msgs. I like
to see the minutes before talking to customers and I also want to see HER
distribution list, so I know which customers are officially informed.

    Regards,
