I have a customer that installed MCC V1.4. He generated some alarm rules and during the firing of the rule he received an INVALID DEVICE error. He figured out that SYS$SCRATCH was not assigned and when it was being accessed the above error message was generated. Where does SYS$SCRATCH get assigned? Is this an MCC issue or a VMS SYSTEM Management issue? Any help would be appreciated... Richard

Hi, As the rule executes in batch check that SYS$SCRATCH is defined when batch procedure executes. Enventually put a show log SYS$SCRATCH in the .com procedure executed in batch. Benoit | |||||

Richard, I must be set when your batch job starts. The setting is somewhere in the environment. It is VMS stuff i do not know in detail. Benoit |
