6270.0. "preserving short map file names?" by DV780::SMITHG () Wed Apr 12 1995 23:44

    Once you have changed the TeMIP map file names from the long UID
    verison to the short domain name version, is there any way to prevent
    the long name being used again at the time a "Save Map" is issued?

    From earlier notes, it seems the default is to reuse the long name
    there by making the user rename the map file each time one is modified
    and saved. Can this behaviour be overridden so that the short name
    only will be used?

    BTW, we are at TeMIP 2.0A and OSF 3.0.

Gary,

If your question is related to TeMIP, then it is more suited in the TeMIP
notefile than in the MCC one.

The problem of long vs short names for map will disappear in V3 (TeMIP Framework
V3, coming soon in FT). In V3, the map is now a child object of the
corresponding domain and 2 directives (dump and load) are provided to
respectively dump the map file to a given file or load the contents of a given
file as the map file.

Best regards,

Marc.
6270.2In the meantime...DV780::SMITHGThu Apr 13 1995 22:297
    Marc,

    .1 sounds good. I guess my question is that, in the meantime, will we
    need to continue renaming the map files to the short name after each
    edit and save?
