6264.0. "Alarm only fired once..." by LISVAX::KALENGA () Wed Apr 05 1995 15:58

    Hello,

       at one of our customers an alarm rule is only fired once, i.e.
    when the alarm condition occurs. Afterwards, the alarm is never
    again fired, unless you disable/enable the alarm.

      Rule: Node5_X25A02_dte_DOWN

      Domain: LOCAL_NS:.sibs_lines
      Entity: Node LOCAL_NS:.x25a02 x25 protocol DTE dte-1
      Event Source: Domain LOCAL_NS:.sibs_lines Rule Node5_X25A02_dte_DOWN
      Security: Critical
      Timestamp: 5-APR-1995 11:00:22
      Text: Rule Node5_X25A02_dte_DOWN has fired

      Event Type: QualityOfServiceAlarm
      Event Time: 5-APR-1995 11:00:19.64
      Probable Cause: Unknown
      Significance: True
      Information: Rule fired: Node LOCAL_NS:.x25a02 x25 protocol dte dte-1
                   State=Off
      Significance: True
      Information: (Node X25A02 x25 protocol dte * state <> Running,
                    at every 0:02:00)
      Managed Object: Node LOCAL_NS:.x25a02 x25 protocol DTE dte-1
      Perceived Severity: Critical.

    This alarm only fires once, and even when the DTE remains off, despite
    the alarm rule specifying a 2 second time interval, there are no more
    alarms being fired.

    The customer is running DECmcc BMS V1.3 on VAX/VMS.

    Could anyone explain why the alarm is only fired once?

    Any help is appreciated,

    Thank you and regards,
    /Kalenga
