6237.1 | MCC Director was not in V1.3 | AZUR::DURIF | | Fri Feb 17 1995 09:42 | 11 |
| Hi,
Polycenter Framework (DECmcc Director) was no shipped in V1.3 as it was the
case with V1.2.
Starting to next OpenVMS/VAX Condist (Available by the end of march 1995)
the MCCDIR014 directory will be present.
Hope this helps,
Benoit

6237.2 | not able to install DECELMS w/DIRECTOR | SALUD::ORTIZ | | Fri Feb 17 1995 17:26 | 10 |
| Thanks for information, however, my customer has a license for MCC
Director for 1.3. He installed BMS and then just ran the
MCC_STARTUP_DIR.COM file. He now wants to install DECELMS and the
VMSINSTAL aborts when it does a MANAGE/TOOL/DICT and access ALARMS.
Will he need to modify KINSTAL to make this work?
Thanks,
Richard

6237.3 | Director license does not grant the right to use alarms module. | AZUR::DURIF | | Wed Feb 22 1995 16:06 | 12 |
| Hi,
The Director license does not grant the right to use alarms module.
two solutions :
- get a BMS license and you gain access to all BMS features,
- get an ALARMS license which name is DECMCC-NS and you get access to alarms and
notification fonctions.
No need to install DECELMS kit to get the ALARMS_FM.

| Richard,

will not work in V1.4; or you will have a lot of screaming from
the KITINSTAL from BMS and no IVP.

what did I tell you just 30 sec. ago ?
DECmcc V1.4 does a little better: it check for
a BMS license loaded (V1.3 will do)
a DIR and a NS license loaded (V1.3) will do
and, of course, in any case an ELMS license
The fact is the ELMS (i.e AM and FM) need ALARMS to work properly.
That is why their installation procedure checks so extensively for it
in the dictionary.
Even if you hack the installation procedures until they "do what you want"
at run-time you might have problems: every Management Module checks for a
valid license 'at a particulary crucial moment'
Solution:
1) buy a EMS (or POLYCENTER Network Manager 400) license
2) buy a BMS (or POLYCENTER Network Manager 200) and a ELMS license
3) buy a DIR (or POLYCENTER Framework), a Notification Services and a ELMS license
Neither TeMIP nor POLYCENTER Netview are a solution, they don't have ELMS
