6230.0. "DECMCC-Future Support questions?" by SALUD::ORTIZ () Wed Feb 08 1995 00:17

    I need to know the bottom line with Polycenter Framework (DECmcc
    support). I have not read the DECmcc V1.4 cover letter, as of yet, but
    I have a customer that has read it and is still confused about DECmcc
    support.

    He is feeling that DECmcc support from Digital is in a comeback mode.
    There is now a SIG for the DECMCC and classes are now available. He
    had also heard that Polycenter Netview will never be on any VMS
    platform ( VAX or ALPHA AXP).

    Does this mean that there will be more upgrades for DECmcc after
    version 1.4? If a customer is about to embark on DECmcc for their
    network management, will support go on for more than the 3 year
    commitment we had heard previously?

    Thanks for any clarity on this subject...

6230.1Of course, there is DECmcc support!AZUR::LANGENSTEINHubert Langensteiner, @VBEThu Feb 09 1995 10:2315
Hello Richard,

I guess the document you meant is the newsletter and not a coverletter.

There is DECmcc support and we do our best to improve the support process.
One thing I want to mention here is that when you escalate problems, please
always give as as much information as possible (from your problem research).
Also very important are the detailed steps for how to reproduce a problem.

I think I should not answer on future plans for DECmcc because it is the
Product Manager who has the job and authority and not a maintenance Engineer.
Please, have a look at the newsletter and if you still have some questions,
send them directly to Susan Ulysse::Pomerleau. Susan is the also the author
of the newsletter but please have first a look at the newsletter before
contacting her. Thanks in advance,
6230.2DECmcc Newsletter Whereabouts?POBOX::DCARROLLWed Apr 05 1995 21:5019
    Hi,

    I, too have a customer with similar concerns and have written to
    product management re: the DECMCC newsletter. THus , I want to first
    point out that it's ULYSSE::POMERLEAU (Susan Pomerleau) not Susan
    Ulysee.

    Then my request..could yo please indicate where this Newsletter can be
    found here and if it is available for customers to subscribe to.

    I had included in my note to Susan, a few ?s from my customer and I
    think Sue got us mixed up as she responded directly to the customer
    and referenced this NOTEFILE for access to the Newsletter. Thus a
    pointer to said newsletter would be greatly appreciated and save a
    lot of time.

    Thanks in Advance

I wrote in my reply .2 "Susan Ulysse::Pomerleau". Where please did you find
ULYSSE::SUSAN?

The location is mentioned in many places and in this file at least in the conf
notice message and the location can also be found via the directory command.
For example using the command line interface:

	NOTES> SHOW CONFERENCE
	NOTES> DIRECTORY/TITLE=newsletter

What did you do to try to find this newsletter? If it helps I am happy to add
more pointers or create another location - you seem not the only one who has
problems finding this file.

Which note please (NOTES> DIR/AUTHOR=POBOX::DCARROLL *.* only reveals 6230.2)?
Do you mean "mail" or "memo"?

Regards,
Hubert.
