In further investigating this problem I've seen this...
NODE 0 DNS CLERK
BUGCHECK
CODE 000003C4: SSRVEXCEPT, UNEXPECTED SYSTEM SERVICE EXCEPTION
CRASH CPU: 00 PRIMARY CPU: 00 ACTIVE CPUS: 00000001
CURRENT PROCESS = DNS$ADVER
IMAGE NAME = 'DISK'[SYS0.SYSCOMMON.][SYSEXE]DNS$ADVER.EXE
STARTING MEMORY DUMP
I will be creating a dumpfile today to analyze further...
My question is, can I have a LOCAL namespace and run OSI on a DEC3000
running OpenVMS V6.0?
I've put this in the OSI conference, but again, I am using MCC to zoom
my IMPM from a VAXstation, so I thought it relevant to this
conference...
thanks in advance for all replies...

Well, I'll save anyone trouble that is tackling a similar problem...
here's what I found... first of all, the DEC3000 I used is a 'plug n'
play' beauty... It was built pre-configured. I always have a problem
with that... how do *they* know how I want *my* system configured...?
Anyway, the only other software I've installed on it is TCP/IP Services
for Alpha OpenVMS, so I didn't need or even care to do any tuning...
Since the problem described in .0, I've increased GBLPAGES,
GBLSECTIONS, and finally increased PAGEDYN.
Now I was able to fix the problem with the bugcheck, however, the IMPM
is extremely slow and I believe I'll need to scope in further and do
more tuning...err! So much for pre-configured software, eh? 8^)
