6138.0. "Being Enable,Being Created problem" by KAOFS::J_VORSTAND () Thu Oct 13 1994 16:51

    Hi,

Recently I've incorporated the Chipcom MIB into MCC. I added notify
requests for both SNMP and Chipcom to the file MCC_COMMON:FMC_MAP_
NOTIFY.COM, and had the Ops people startup their Mcc sessions/Maps.

Once the map has appeared, I enter the notifications window, and
select the Notifications Request from the Operations window, to view
all of the notification requests. All of this is done from an Ops
account. I count 87 notification requests, including the SNMP/Chipcom
    requests that I added in.

9 of these (SNMP/CHIPCOM ONLY) requests always stay in the
'Being Created, Being Enabled' state, and never get enabled.

After looking around some, I found that the Ops staff start their MCC
stations via a scheduler job. Further testing showed that if I started
MCC from an Ops station outside of Scheduler, ALL of the Notification
    Requests were enabled, quicker.

The scheduler job starts the Ops stations thru a scheduler job, which
is started thru the MCC$USER account.

I have attempted to troubleshoot the situation by tweaking some UAF
parameters, also Sysgen PQL parameters. But, the results are the same.

I have included the MCC$USER and SYSTEM UAF parameters for convenience,
as well as the PQL parameters.

Any ideas on why this might be happenning ? Currently we are
experiencing intermittent problems with notifications, as they stop
displaying to the MCC Ops screen, and go to the log file only. Could
these be related ? Restarting MCC usually takes care of the latter
    issue.
I have found NO errors in any log files, and no indication of any
    problem anywhere.

Following are the uaf and sysgen parameters.

Any assistance, or pointers in the right direction would be greatly
    appreciated. Thanks in Advance,

    Regards,

    JoeV FMC

I guess I'll have to assume that Scheduler and MCC just weren't meant
to be together. Since the original entry of this note, steps have been
taken to modify things so that MCC is NOT started up thru a Scheduler
    job.

This appears to be the only obvious solution to the problem.

    	Thanks for the suggestions.

Could it have to do with the scheduler created process not being
in "INTERACTIVE" mode? Did you try to do it via a POLYCENTER scheduler
job that was set to "BATCH" mode? (but normal interactive priority)

The only other difference I can think of is quotas.

Thanks for the suggestion about the mode. I will look into that
    directly.
