What's New in BMS V1.4 on OpenVMS I browsed over the release notes for T1.4 for VMS. I didn't see much in the way of enhancements... I am glad to see some activity on MCC/VMS though... smile. I'm working with a large telecom in the States... not AT&T 8^). We are somewhat dedicated to the VMS platform for another year, but we're starting to replace the VAXen with AXPs, running OpenVMS. My question is, what's being done to enhance MCC's presence on AXP? I can use a DEC3000 display station with a VAXserver, but I can't install MCC on AXP. It would be really nice if I could... Also, are there any new enhancements that will bridge the gap between TeMIP and MCC? I'd like to see the ALARM features present in TeMIP on MCC. Finally, before I wear out my welcome, is DECmcc ever going to be integrated into MCC? Obviously, MCC has lived most of it's full life cycle; there are still lots of clients that I see in the States that are not in a hurry to shelve all there VMS... since we seem to have renewed interest in MCC, why don't we make it more appealing to continue running on a VMS platform? Off the podium... /Mic

Mic, You have today DECmcc running on AXP, the only 2 details : it is OSF/1 AXP, it is called 'TeMIP Framework' now :-) I completely agree with you : it would be nice to a living/evolving/not dead network management platform on VMS (whatever its name !). It may be just a matter of demonstrating its need and its potential revenues, then we can study its development cost. Anyway, this is just the opinion of a 'poor day-to-day cellar development engineer', 'marketing messages' do not go in the same direction. Regards. Pierre. |
