6125.0. "Performance real slow after DECnet OSI patch" by SALUD::ORTIZ () Thu Sep 29 1994 18:46

I have a customer running DECMCC V1.3. The MCC host is using DNS for
the MIR, but is not the DNS SERVER, but a DNS CLIENT. The DNS SERVER
had some crash issues and found that they need to patch DNS, which
they did. The DNS SERVER executable is now V2.1-SSB-035. After the
installed DNS patch was done, they started to see a performance issue
with MCC. It now takes 35 minutes for a domain with 60 entities to be
displayed. I did a MCC>DIR DOMAIN * and it took 10 minutes to see a
response and it was very slow. Everything else on the MCC HOST works
fine. I have checked account quotas and sysgen parameters and found
no real issues. I looked at the DNS SERVER COUNTERS in NCL and found
    no problems.

I don't know what I am missing here. Any help would be appreciated..

6125.1you need new OSI images if VMS V6 and DNS ECO40STKHLM::BERGGRENNils Berggren, DC Sweden. 876-8287Mon Oct 03 1994 14:3620
what DECNet OSI patch did you install?

I've experienced the same problem at a customer site where we have one
VMS 6.1 cpu and the others are VMS 5.5-2.

    For the DNS$SERVER there's a new (I don't know if it's official yet)
patch kit wich brings it up to ECO 40. Furthermore, if you're running
    DECnet/OSI V5.7 (i.e. VMS V6.x) there are 3 OSI transport images that
addresses the performance problem. I installed them last friday and
there was a significant improvement. These 3 images are only for VMS
    V6.0 and 6.1 and DECnet/OSI 5.7.

I've received the images directly from engeenering and I know they want
to keep track of were they distribute them, so if you're in the need, I
guess the best thing is to drop a line in the DECnet/OSI conference.

    hope this helps,
