6115.0. "TSM as work around" by UTROP1::CAMPENHOUT_R (Rob (J.R.) van Campenhout) Wed Sep 07 1994 12:39

    Hi,

I have a customer who has installed DECMCC and has migrated to DECnet
PV and has DECserver90Tl and DECserver900M installed. He would like to
manage these Terminal servers using TSAM. From note 5958.6 I learned
that there might be a TSAM for DECnet PV someday ;^}.
My question is, can I use TSM V2.1 as temporary solution until TSAM is
    released?
If TSAM stays in maintainance mode forever can I expect TSM to be
supported for future releases of DECnet PV?
Will the PCNV DECnet enhancements include a Terminal Server management
    module?

If these questions need be directed at marketing Please direct me to
    the correct person(s).

    Regards,

    Rob

6115.1The new (90, 900...) seriesor terminal servers are SNMP manageableAZUR::ANTEUNISKnowledge is a deadly tool, in the hands of fools (King Crimson)Tue Sep 13 1994 06:3624
In my Network Buyer's guide the following appears:

DECserver 90TL
   - Multiprotocol server - supports Telnet, LAT, and SLIP
   - ...
   - ...
   - Network Management - remotely manageable using SNMP, (TSM), MOP, and Telnet
Remote Console
   - ...
   - ...

I think it works partially with TSAM which makes use of the same library as TSM.
Partially because not all features of this common library were used.

The 90TL 90+ ... are NOT mentioned in DECmcc's SPD

Terminal Servers and Hubs engineering is moving towards SNMP.
DECmcc has an SNMP access module and can load 'foreign' MIBs that You need to
obtain from the vendor of the equipment.

The DECserver 900 is an even more powerfull box with even more IP related
functionality. I would be amazed that one cannot manage it using SNMP.
