6097.0. "DNS access rights question" by TROOA::DLOTEN (Semper ubi sub ubi.) Fri Aug 26 1994 11:21
My customer is running v1.3, managing a number of sites in a large,
multinational company, where that have rolled their backbone over to
OSI. They have created an enterprise-wide DNS network that has
distributed management access protection (ie. Joe and rwed the local
site entities but can only r the remote ones).
When he REGISTERS DECnis's that are on the backbone, he gets full
registration for the ones that are in the DNS tree that he manages, but
only partial registration for the ones at the other end of the WAN that
are in someone else's DNS branch.
Is this EXPECTED behaviour, of is there something he should be doing to
fix it?

6097.1 | Expected, fix DNS configuration error. | SCCA::Dave | You think I know something about Netview? | Fri Aug 26 1994 16:10 | 8 |
| 1: Expected
2: Fix the protections so the management systems
can update the DNS entries. Note that only 1 management
system actually needs to do the (sucsessful) registration.
