| Jack,
No doubt you've solved this problem by now... it's a rather old note...
I would look at what I'm running for IP software first... remember, the
SNMP AM uses your IP stack, eh? (DUH!)
Also, you said you could PING it? What version of UCX are you running?
You config'd it properly, yes? In the later versions of UCX you need
to ensure you do the client piece...smile.
last thing I'd look at is pretty simple...smile. Ensure you have upper
case on the HOST for the database... it may not be your problem but
I've seen it snag me in earlier versions of UCX...
I have a question about a DECbrouter90... does it run OSI? Can it be
managed using a CMIP AM? I've never seen one...

| I have this working very nicely with three DECnis600's, and almost
thirty DECbrouter90T2s on T1 circuits, and 56K links. I use the
Historian to gather all of the counters from each port of the DECnis,
and I have written separate rules that use the Historian data for
statistically show traffic level on each port, and error changes.
create domain .domain.historian rule DECnisA_port1_Inbound_util_high -
expression=(snmp .router.decnis_a interface 1 Inbound utilization > 40, -
for start = (-00:15:00) duration 00:15:00, at every 00:15:00, in domain
.domain.historian), Category = "DECnis Line Utilization",Severity=Major,-
Description = "Interface 1 (Link to Athens Brouter) utilization over the -
last 15 minutes has passed 40 percent average. "
(or something very close, I am not logged onto the machine now)
The Brouters need to have SNMP enabled, and need to the have a
community name that matches the community name that you gave when
registering the Brouter in MCC. I can register, write alarms for, and
manage the "Discos" at this customer site, running POLYCENTER 400
version EMS023, and UCX V3.1 (both from September CD kit). I have
not installed any patches or updates to anything.
I am about to update to upgrade from DECnet IV, to DECnet/OSI to become
the load host for the DECnii, and upgrade to VMS6.1 from 6.0. I hope
that everything will still work....
