Hi, COuld we use DECmcc ELM AM to disable/enable the spanning on LB200 (I mean turn-off the spanning other than change it from auto-select to IEE 802.1)? If not, how could we do it (using MOP, etc..)? Thanks Andrew Chiu - NIS Sydney

Why on earth would you ever want to disable spanning tree ??? This could have disastrous effects on your network. I don't believe that any of our bridges would support this. *Robert | |||||

re .0 No you can not turn off the STP on the LB200. re .1 The GIGAswitch is essentially a 100Mb bridge. V2.0 includes an SNMP object, gigaStpPortSpanningTreeEnable, that allows the user to turn off spanning tree. There is a discussion of the pros/cons in the SCHOOL::GIGASWITCH conf (I don't have the entry #). V2.8 of the DEC ELAN Vendor MIB includes an object, ebrIfSpanTurnOffStatus, that can be used on DEC bridges that support this version of the MIB. I beleive this functionality is planned for the DECbridge 900. Bill |
