5954.0. "malloc, exccop, virtual memory problems" by NYOS02::PLUNKETT () Thu Apr 21 1994 10:39
Hi, I recently ran into a situation where MCC was blowing up with
an insufficient virtual memory message. The symptom was that after
you brought up the impm out of a decterm, as soon as you did
anything, open up a domain, iconize a window, the process running
mcc would consume all the virtual memory available to it. On the
advice of the CSC, we applied the latest Motif and MCC ECOs, but
still the problem persisted.
It turns out that the customer had the following line in SYLOGIN.COM
$define/table=lnm$process_directory lnm$temporary_mailbox lnm$system
I know that this is necessary when you use the TP monitor TMX, but
you sure don't need it for MCC. After this line was removed,
everything was okey-dokey once again. Just a tip that I wanted to
pass along, and if anybody knows why redefining this logical causes
MCC to blow up, please post it here.
