I am setting up DECmcc v1.3 / POLYcenter for a client in a small LAN. All the client nodes are running DECnet/OSI with the LOCAL: naming option. Including the station running DECmcc. In DECmcc I also choose the local naming option (i.e. LOCAL_NS:) my problem is this, when I try to register a net/osi node, I only get partial registrations because the entity LOCAL_NS:.xxx doesn't exist... !!! %%% in another words I can't register, because it isn't registered ??? I did manage one registration "node 0", so now I can proudly monitor node LOCAL_NS:.0 and no others !!! How can i make this work ... will creating a private DNS for the DECmcc change anything or will it still refuse to register. Gil

SOLUTION: Use sys$system:decnet_loc_register.com to load TOWER information into the DECnet/OSI LOCAL: cache. Docs says it should work without, if a bit slower, but as far as MCC v1.3 is concerned NO TOWERS = NO ENTITY. Gil |
