5922.1 | Yes. (With a reboot). | TOOK::MCPHERSON | Where's the "Any" key ?!? | Mon Mar 28 1994 23:10 | 4 |
| Yes. It's a "DISABLE" operation and it requires a reboot of the box to
take effect.

Doug,
The "requested transmit state" parameter in a tramslan is a memory
parameter that does not require a reboot. When this parameter is set
to "Broken", the port is disabled. I wonder the "DISABLE" operation
you mention in .1 is refering to the same parameter. Can you post the
whole disable commmand ?

5922.3 | no MIB obj for /3/n/2/2 | GIDDAY::CHONG | Andrew Chong - Sydney CSC | Wed Mar 30 1994 01:08 | 8 |

I just checked the MIB document for Vitalink s/w V10.5.1 . There
appears to be no MIB object for the equivalent of "requested transmit
state" (/3/n/2/2). So I guess the "requested transmit state" cannot be
set to "broken" from VBAM. The disable operation will work but requires
a reboot.

5922.4 | Which interface are you talking about? | TOOK::MCPHERSON | Where's the "Any" key ?!? | Wed Mar 30 1994 10:07 | 15 |
| You asked if it was possible via VBAM. It is. Then you started
talking about REC screen variables and MIB variables. THese are all
THREE different management interfaces to the box. Which do you want?
If you want to do it via VBAM then you must use the DISABLE command and
then INITIALIZE the bridge (REBOOT).
There are things that you can do from the REC screen that you cnnot do
from either VBAM or SNMP. THere is no guarantee of consistency acroos
the three. Sorry. That's just the way Vitalink did their code.
I have no access to either MCC or VBAM so you'll have to dig up the
command line yourself, or rely on some other kind soul to post theirs.
regards,
/doug
