5899.0. " Enable sink -> Internal Error in Phase IV AM" by LISVAX::KALENGA () Tue Mar 08 1994 06:01
Hello,
the following problem has been reported before, but without any
solution until now:
I'm running DECmcc/BMS V1.3 for ULTRIX (POLYCENTER Network Manager 400)
on a Phase IV node (no DECnet/OSI nor DECnet OSI AM installed).
When trying to run the shell script
/usr/mcc/mcc_system/mcc_dna4_evl_setup.sh
(where I have substituted all the "node" occurences with my node
name, and the password for root)
it exits with "Internal Error in DECnet Phase IV AM"
When running the commands of the script manually, I notice that
this happens after trying to
MCC> enable node4 PEDRIX local sink MONITOR, by user root, -
_MCC> by password xxxx
All the symptoms described in Note 4900 and its replies apply to this
situation. As suggested in the replies of that note, I have reinstalled
DECmcc, but the same symptom happened again. I then re-enrolled the
DECnet Phase IV AM (enroll mcc_dna4_am), but again the same symptoms
occurred when trying to run the script.
No solution to this problem has been indicated in the previous Note.
For VMS, the same situation seems to be a known problem which
apparently has been fixed, as it is stated in Note 2245 and its
replies.
I have also found out the following, which might be a clue:
When I reset the name of the local sink MONITOR, to its original
name (/usr/etc/evl), then it is possible to enable the sink!
MCC> set node4 PEDRIX local sink MONITOR name /usr/etc/evl, -
_MCC> by user root, by password xxxx
then:
MCC> enable node4 PEDRIX local sink MONITOR, by user root, -
_MCC> by password xxxx
and it works!
But then, the outbound stream "loses" all the events that had been
"passed" when running the Shell script, thus not allowing to receive
any Phase IV events!
Apparently, there is a problem when trying to set the local sink
MONITOR name to /usr/mcc/mcc_system/mcc_dna4_evl_setup.sh.
+++
Can anyone tell me if this a bug, or if there is any workaround to get
the MONITOR sink to work for Phase IV entities?
Thank you for any help,

Of course, this should be:
... name to /usr/etc/mcc_dna4_evl_monitor
