5884.0. "IP UNREACHABLE even though it is" by COMICS::MISTRY () Mon Feb 28 1994 05:28
Hi,
Regarding note 5839, IP reachibility alarms come back with a UNREACHABLE even
though the entity is up and running. Now there appears to be a workaround
whereby you poll the entity within the alarm rule to see if it is reachable.
Having run a trace it appears that the MCC box is polling the entity 5 times
when you receive a false unreachable and only twice when it is. However, the
time difference between the polls is minute. The other thing to note is that
entities which are experiencing a problem are on the other side of 64K links
and not local.
So either MCC appears to throwing the messages away or UCX (V2.0D) isn't
passing the info up.
I have given the customer a workaround. But he would like to know if this is
going to be fixed.

There was a patched version of the IP Poller which fixed a similar
problem. Are you running that or are you running what came with the
V1.3.0 system ?

| Rahul,
Not using the IP poller. Just simple IP reachablility alarms.
