This misleading message rings a bell! We once had this error and it
turned out to be a protection problem. Check access to the MIR files in
/var/mcc, especially the group these files are in. The process running
the alarm rules must belong to the same group. Also, some MIR files need
write access, even if they are only read.

5883.2 | Still not working | BUSSTP::JHANNAH | | Mon Feb 28 1994 11:43 | 8 |
| I've tried changing the protections, but it didn't make any difference.
Also my other alarm rules work okay, it's just this new one to query a
recently installed DECnis that doesn't seem to be working. All my old
rules which query DEMSA's etc still work okay. Any ideas?

Jim,
Did you kill all your MCC processes after changing the protections ?
Changing protection will only be taken in account if you restart all
the MCC processes.

5883.4 | Restarting the processes fixed it. | BUSSTP::JHANNAH | | Thu Mar 03 1994 09:45 | 9 |
| My mistake, I changed the protections but didn't restart the MCC
processes. After doing that, the rule is functioning very nicely.
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
Jim.
