Hi,

I'm currently working in Sales Support for the custmer project. 
We will have to develop APIs for network management manager and 
extended Agent(See Figure-1), and will supply them to the customer. 

I'm looking for some answers concering standard SNMP Agent on DEC OSF/1 AXP.
Also I'm looking for products (i.e POLYCENTER Common Agent Developer's Toolkit,
etc ...) that provide APIs for network management manager and extended Agent in
order to reduce the amount of code we must write to create them.

	On the customer's requirement of the communication protocol between 
Extended Agent and vender supplied standard SNMP Agent, the vender supplied 
standard SNMP Agent must conform to the SMUX (RFC1227) except for the 
commit/rollback functionality of the SetRequest, or must have same functions as
well as SMUX.

I heard that DEC's standard SNMP Agent does NOT conform to the SMUX, however 
same functions as well as SMUX can be realized if we use Common Agent Base Kit
and Developer's Toolkit.

The following items that I would like to know:

 1. Is this true that standard SNMP Agent on DEC OSF/1 AXP does not conform to 
    the SMUX and if we use Common Agent Base Kit and Developer's Toolkit, same
    functions as well as SMUX can be realized?

 2. If an answer of above question is "YES", I would like to know how to 
    implement the functions as well as SMUX using Common Agent Developer's 
    Toolkit. I'm not familier with Common Agent, so could someone tell me it
    simply?

 3. Does Products such as POLYCENTER Common Agent provide APIs for Extended
    Agent/Network Management Manager? (I believe that APIs for Network 
    Management Manager will be provied by POLYCENTER Manager on NetView.)


I would really appreciate any suggestions and comments.
