5792.0. "Vitalink/Translan unapproachable" by BLG03::ROSSI () Fri Dec 17 1993 08:33

Hi,
	a customer has a problem with MCC and Vitalink Bridges.

The panorama is:

	- Vax Station 4000/60 with MCC BMS 1.3
	- Vitalink AM installed after BMS, version 1.2
	- Vitalink Software up to date (Translan 3 version 6.11.1)

The topology of connections is:

         +---------------+
         |  MCC BMS 1.3  |
         +-------+-------+
                 |

                             /             \

         ====================+======  ======+=======================

Registering the 2 translan there is no problem. They are normally inserted
in the MCC domain map. No particular message is displayed.

When we try to looking into the entity (double click on translan icon) we
receive a message in a error message window indicating:

	%MCC-E-ILVTNF Specified Tag not found whitin current constructor

The same for other access attempts to the entity (rules checking
parameters/counters, etc.)

Does someone had the same problem or could help me ?

Thanks in advance

Bye

Giuseppe

	The "registration successfull" message is not significant because
	Translan AM doesn't handle correctly error status. Try a directory
	command on your Translan and check if they are really registered.
	( the hardware address should be displayed, not only the name ).

    The bridges are normally working and they connect 3 LANs. The problem
    in .0 is only for MCC. Any attempt to the bridges ends with the same
    message in note .0.
    We checked the address of bridges and it was correct.
    For test purpose we tried to delete and register again the bridges
    but the result of an attempt to look into the bridge is always the
    same.
    What can we do ??

    Thank in advance.

    Bye
