At my customer site we are running VCS to capture data from the system console. My customer would like to then pass this data to TCP/IP SNMP for problem monitoring. According to the VCS documentation, events scanned by VCS can be sent to a user program by means of a defined data structure or mailbox. Is it then possible to write an DECmcc Access Module to poll a user written image (that receives the VCS data) that acts like an "entity" and responds by passing the information in the structure or mailbox to the DECmcc Access Module and then to TCP/IP SNMP?

Yes, but why? Stuff the data in via the collection AM, it would be much more easy (about 20 minutes, not 20 weeks) to get things working. |
