Sorry if this has been asked before, I had a quick search though the titles and could not identify a topic. For a start assume I know very little about DECmcc and even less when it runs on a system with multiple LAN adapters. I would like to configure DECmcc BMS with ELM AM and TS AM access module on a VAXstation 4000-90. This VAXstation will be connect to two networks one via Ethernet and one via FDDI. Several systems will also be linked to both networks but there will be NO bridge between the two networks. My questions are? 1) Will DECmcc allow me to manage the FDDI network ? 2) Will I also be able manage the Ethernet network ? 3) If I wanted will I be able to force it to only manage the FDDI network? Regards, Laurence

5732.1 | No direct FDDI connect | TOOK::R_SPENCE | Nets don't fail me now... | Tue Nov 16 1993 10:18 | 7 |
MCC doesn't support a direct FDDI controller at all as far as I know and I don't know of any plans to change it. If the two nets are separate then I don't think you can operate on both of them (even if you solve the connection problem). s/rob
5732.2 | use via port as workaround | QUIVER::HAROKOPUS | Tue Nov 16 1993 17:53 | 8
The FDDI controllers are not offically supported by the MCC access routines but using the via port=xxxx qualifier for the FDDI port will usually work. This workaround is documented in the ELM release notes. Regards, Bob |
