5664.0. "Cannot Register Station using IMPM - Hang" by GIDDAY::BROOKS () Thu Oct 14 1993 21:41
Hi,
Could anyone give any suggestions as to why, I am unable to register
a STATION from the IMPM. When I use the Toolbox to register the station
you are prompted for the stations's name (first window). After entering
the name DS100A, MCC hangs. All windows related to the IMPM are
unusable. The cursor turns into the watch symbol for an indefinite
period. I am able to register the station via the FCL
"MCC> register station DS100A address = 08-00-2b-11-f8-38"
Then use the tool box to register the STATION in the MAP. You are able
to register NODE4 systems through the Toolbox though. The workstation
is running DECMCC BMS V1.3,VMS V5.5-2 and DNS$CONTROL show version
reports DNS V1.1 protocol Version V1.0
I was able to reproduce this same problem on another MCC station
with similar configuration except VMS was V5.4-3.
Any advice welcome,
Regards,
Nigel Brooks

Another customer has reported the same problem.
Registering a station in the iconic map caused the cpu into a compute
loop. I will CLD this when I get the forced crash dump.
