5623.0. "Alarms do not die" by COL01::LOPEZ (Arturo Lopez drinks Klsch at Cologne) Wed Sep 29 1993 10:33

    Hi Folks,

I run DECmcc V1.3 on VMS.

I have the problem, that I get Alarms from some entities on my
    notification window.

When I look at the status of the Alarm, I see they are disabled.

How comes I still get the messages even if the alarms are disabled.

Once I even deleted the alarms after disabling them, but the messages
    still came ?

    Any Ideas, what is wrong.

The only way to get rid of the unwanted messages was delete the Alarms
and start DECmcc. Is this the way DECmcc should work ?

There may be another process that has the rule 'alive', thus it appears
to keep the rule alive.

    Arturo,

I agree with Lee. Be sure there is not another MCC process running.
Also, be sure you have not enabled alarm rules in a batch procedure.

The notification window will display alarm rules that fire in all
domains, not just the one you have opened.

If you don't want to see other alarm notifications, use the "filter"
    function in the notification window.

    Hi Lee and Dan,

you are right, there is another process running in background, which
    keeps the alarms alive.

I disabled the alarms in the background process and my life is easy
    again.
