Hi, My customer is using BMS V1.3 and the problem he is having is that MCC is setting the wrong confidence level for dns. Hence all his queries are going to his master dns server in the states and not using the locally held info. Now in note 4422, the confidence level was going to be settable for the ultrix 1.3 SSB. Is there a logical i can set for the vms version. Bipin.

RE: .0 You can use the same logical (MCC_DNS_CONF) on VMS as stated in 4422.* But, the DECdns V1.1 on VMS does not support "LOW" confidence level in read operations (Is your VMS system running DECdns V1.1?). The "LOW" confidence level becomes "Medium". The Medium confidence Read operations will go to ANY DNS server. As I said in 4422.?, when DECmcc does not find the expected information in DNS (e.g. reading domain members in an empty domain, reading empty reference attributes), the DECmcc always goes to the Master DNS server for re-try. Thanks for your help William. His dns skulks were failing so MCC was going to the master server. Bipin |
