5539.0. "Domain member can not be deleted" by CGOOA::DOLMAN (John of all trades - master of none) Thu Aug 26 1993 13:03

I am having a problem deleting an SNMP entity from a map at one of my sites.

If we attempt to delete the entity from the map, it all appears to work - that
is until you exit DECmcc and re-enter it. At that point, it complains about
and entity in the domain that is not in the map file. It then proceeds to place
it back on the map.

I then attacked it with the FCL interface. If I tried to delete the member
from the domain, it would complain that it did not exist. So I tried a couple of
SHOW directives with the following result:

  MCC> show domain ipl member *
  Using default ALL IDENTIFIERS

  Domain LOCAL_NS:.ipl Member LOCAL_NS:.mall
  AT 26-AUG-1993 08:52:37 Identifiers

  Examination of attributes shows
                             MemberName = LOCAL_NS:.mall

  Domain LOCAL_NS:.ipl Member LOCAL_NS:.etlrtd <---- This is the one that
  AT 26-AUG-1993 08:52:38 Identifiers I want to get rid of.

  Examination of attributes shows
                             MemberName = LOCAL_NS:.etlrtd

If I then go and perform a show on the specific member, I get the following
result:

  MCC> show domain ipl member etlrtd
  Using default ALL IDENTIFIERS

  Domain LOCAL_NS:.ipl Member LOCAL_NS:.etlrtd
  AT 26-AUG-1993 08:57:51 Identifiers

  No such entity: Domain LOCAL_NS:.ipl Member LOCAL_NS:.etlrtd
                         Unknown Entity = Domain LOCAL_NS:.ipl Member
                                          LOCAL_NS:.etlrtd

It looks to me like a pointer in the database is messed up so that any
direct reference to the member does not find it, but any wildcard does!

Any suggestions?
