Hi, We would like to do a prototype based on the following communication : A udp/ip sockets B ----------------- over X.25 data link --------------------- | | | | | Ultrix 4.3 | |Non-DEC | | udp/ip socket |<----------------------------->|Unix based box | | AF_INET | |udp/ip sockets | | SOCK_DGRAM | |over X.25 | | X.25 native | | | |or X.25 gateway| |X.25 dedicate | | client | | | ----------------- -------------------- DECmcc mcc_evc_send ported collector AM udp/ip sockets 1- Does someone know what is X.25 dedicate and can is our X.25 datalink compatible with the X.25 dedicate data link ? 2- Does someone know if this udp/ip socket over X.25 communication is feasible a- with non-DEC with X.25 b- with non-DEC with X.25 dedicate 3- Can A issue a ping to B (ping over X.25 or X.25 dedicate) 4- Can A use telnet over X.25 (or X.25 dedicate) to B ? 5- Without using telnet, can A open a session on B in passthrough mode 6- can we use tip ? (I read the ultrix SPD and it seemed it is not feasible on a RISC machine.) 7- can we use a VT-100 emulation ? Thanks to help... Cross-posted in ARPA_INTERNET & X25_ULTRIX Catherine

<<< OZROCK::$3$DUA1:[NOTES$LIBRARY]X25_ULTRIX.NOTE;1 >>> -< X.25 Native Mode & Gateway Client for Ultrix (shadow copy) >- ================================================================================ Note 453.3 UDP/IP sockets on X.25 3 of 3 TOSKI::HAYES "Keep trying ! C.Hayes ALF 385-2988 or" 19 lines 26-AUG-1993 02:14 -< X.25 Datakit ...sorry >- -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks Patrick & Arthur, it helps... Just to clear the X.25 dedicate mystery. AT&T developed a series of protocols called datakit, and we need to use X.25 over a datakit physical interface (used our customer unix-based machine). We need to know if one of there is an intersection between our DEC X.25 physical interfaces and the customer datakit physical interfaces. So I guess the question is, what are our supported X.25 physical interfaces on risc ? Sorry for my understanding, my ear is still 100% French... Catherine |
