5507.0. "Problem with NODE4 and exporter" by AEOENG::CORNU_B () Thu Aug 19 1993 10:31

Hello,

I use DECmcc v1.3 with VMS 5.5.

I collect data about node4 entities and line subentities
using the mcc background exporter.

We try to analyze the data included in the mcc_node4_line
table of the database, and have some problems to interpret
the 'bytes_sent' and 'bytes_received' fields.
Here we think that these two fields represent counters ( so
absolute values ) but in some database the values increase
and decrease poll after poll.
A short example of what we read in the database is shown
below. Note that we have the same results by using SQL compiled
programs and interactive RDO analysis.

bytes_sent = 4.940856e+07,sent_ind = 0
bytes_received = 8.872861e+06, rece_ind = 0
date = 1993071900323014

bytes_sent = 1.562335e+07,sent_ind = 0
bytes_received = 6.260665e+06, rece_ind = 0
date = 1993071901321950

bytes_sent = 2.277633e+06,sent_ind = 0
bytes_received = 6.922110e+06, rece_ind = 0
date = 1993071902321968

bytes_sent = 1.869230e+06,sent_ind = 0
bytes_received = 6.125911e+06, rece_ind = 0
date = 1993071903322107

bytes_sent = 1.918338e+06,sent_ind = 0
bytes_received = 5.978419e+06, rece_ind = 0
date = 1993071904321953

bytes_sent = 1.817458e+06,sent_ind = 0
bytes_received = 6.056116e+06, rece_ind = 0
date = 1993071905322112

bytes_sent = 1.917924e+06,sent_ind = 0
bytes_received = 5.968421e+06, rece_ind = 0
date = 1993071906321957

Could you tell me what 'bytes_sent' and 'bytes_received'
represent ?
Are they absolute counters ? Or are they relative values
calculated between two polls ?

Many thanks for any help.
Regards
Bruno
