5445.0. "What's the future for LTM ?" by IJSAPL::PEURSUM (Systems Specialist, EIS Holland) Fri Aug 06 1993 08:12

	Hi,

	We have a customer running LTM, and they are migrating most of their
	Netw. Mgmt. software from point-products to DECmcc based products.

	What they would like to know :
	will LTM be migrated/upgraded to an EMA-compliant product ?
	will this product then still support VT340's for terminal output,
	not only Motif ?

	Frankly, browsing through the LTM notes conference, i get the feeling
	that its an end-of-life product... is that a correct statement?

	What are alternatives ?

	Please help us.

	Regards,
	Paul.

5445.1PROBEwatch / DECpacketprobe !IJSAPL::PEURSUMSystems Specialist, EIS HollandFri Aug 06 1993 09:4516
	Okay, so i have to read my mail better... i found the answer .

	I just got a mail about the (to be announced) DECpacketprobe 90, which
	uses the RMON specification for Remote network MONitoring based upon
	SNMP.

	It will replace LTM when the functionality is the same or more.

	More info, see NAC::MANAGEMENT:*RMON*.*

5445.2NAT EtherMeter 250 probe + DECmcc & NAT/NMSZTOIS1::VISTARenato VISTA, MCS/SPS France/StrasbourgFri Aug 06 1993 10:1618

    Paul,

    You can also use NAT EtherMeter 250 probe via native DECmcc/SNMP
    platform (both ULTRIX & VMS), using MIB II, RMON MIB and NAT private
    MIB.

    On ULTRIX platform, the dedicated NAT/NMS software from NAT can be added
    on DECmcc Framework as a Launched Application.

    With such a configuration, DECmcc + NAT/NMS, it is possible to to
    interactive/graphical but also batch processing/procedural works.
