Hi, there,
A customer asks us the following questions:
How to add a row to a table with the set-request in the iconic map of
DECmcc via the SNMP access module?
The customer said that in the SNMP Newsletter "The Simple Time"
May/June release it mentioned that "we simply set the variables of the
row and it should be created."
However, in DECmcc, a user can only set the variables of an existing row
in the SNMP access module. Since a new row doesn't exist before a user
creates it, it seems there is no way in DECmcc iconic map to set the
variables in order to create a new row.
Am I missing something?
Thanks and regards,
Charles.

Many agents will allow you to set objects in an existing table row in order to create a new row. Say you have a row with index value 1. When you set the value to 2, the agent will create a new row with index 2, and preserve the old row. Next time you do a show operation, you will see both the rows. However, some agents work differently and instead of creating a new row, will change the index of the current row from 1 to 2. In such cases, you cannot use the iconic map to create a new row entry. You can do the operation through FCL. What you really need is a CREATE directive, which you can use through the iconic map. I have the create directive implemented, but currently it is not available through V1.3. Rahul. | |||||

Hi, Rahul.
Thanks for the reply. But is there engineering plan to incorporate that
feature in future releases?
Regards,
Charles.
