I am a novice in POLYCENTER Network Manager 200, I have configuration like this : ____________ _____________ _____________ | Non Routg |MCC stat | Routg-IV | | Non Routg | | DEMO31 | | APS1 | | DMVLC | | 1.613 | | 1.636 | | 1.615 | |___________| |___________| |___________| | | | --------+--------------------------+--------------------------+------ I want to give alarm demo to my customer, my scenario : when somebody try to zero counter in DMVLC can be detected from MCC station (DEMO31) -> the sound can be hear and also the change of the icon's colour. I have set at the DEMO31 and also from another node, but still there was nothing (no sound, no colour changing etc), but at the same time all node is reachable (it means there is no physical problem) and all DECmcc features like register, performance monitoring, historian and etc worked fine. What's wrong with my setup ? Can you help me ? Thanks in advance, Here is all configuration setup and information related to configuration above I. 5420.1 | MCC not set up as event sink. | SPANKY::SAWYER | Tue Aug 03 1993 10:41 | 24 | |
In looking at the info that you gave, you did not set up your MCC station as the local event sink. When you are on your router, and you issue the NCP> SHOW KNOW LOGGING command the DECmcc Machine should show up as a sink node so that it can receive DECnet events from your area router. So, Log onto your router and get into NCP.. NCP> SET LOGGING MONITOR EVENTS (SUPPLY LIST) SINK NODE DEMO31 NCP> DEF ............. Now try doing the same test as your were doing... Check the SYS$MANAGER:OPERATOR.LOG to see if your machine is at least receiving the events and if it is then the problem is narrowed down to getting DECmcc to recognize them. Hope this helps... 5420.2 | More verifications... | LFOIS1::MOUSSU | so unusuaL terM | Mon Aug 09 1993 05:35 | 23 |
In addition to .1 you can verify: 1) that your MCC node, DEMO31 has been correctly registered, mostly for the logging console and logging sink sub-entities, named under MCC: local sink monitor. Then, you have to enable them. The best way would be to check against the example in pages Appendix B (mostly B-3...) in the "Alarms and notifications Services Use" manual 2) that notifications are enabled for DEMO31 DECnet events The alarm rule you've set up is inoperant if Alarms FM don't get notifications. 3) A very simple way to check up at least events are correctly sinked towards MCC station (I assume you have already done this, but in case not): enable a DECterm as a network operator and see if you get DECnet event messages. |
