5410.0. "no event definition in dictionary for snmp trap" by GIDDAY::DRANSFIELD (Mike Dransfield, Sydney RSSG) Fri Jul 30 1993 03:05
I am having some problem with snmp traps....
I am getting traps from a DECagent V1.1 and when I get an
enterprise specific trap 4, I get a message for each notification
of snmp entities which says
notify request 4 for domain .rem.wa.term_servers encounterd an
exception
unexpected condition returned to notification_fm
No event definition found in dictionary for rcvd vendor-specific event.
I only seemed to get this after I added the mib or the MUXserver 380
(which has just gone into EFT with V2.0 which has snmp support)
What is it looking for in the dictionary?
I also seem to get
The event sink is running, but no communicating; cannot restart sink
at various times, although it doesn't seem to affect anything, as
traps are being notified.
thanks,
mike

The message means that the agent is sending back more variables in
the trap than was defined in the dictionary. This is an informational
message and should be ignored. Are you getting the other trap information
in spite of the error message ?

5410.2 | mux mib problem.. | GIDDAY::DRANSFIELD | Mike Dransfield, Sydney RSSG | Wed Aug 04 1993 22:54 | 6 |
| re: .1
I think that I am receiving the trap information.
This problem only occurs after loading the MUXserver 380 field test mib
to DECmcc, so I have reported it to the MUXserver folks...
thanks,
Mike
