Hello,
I am having problems when running DECmcc V1.3 and DNS
with the following versions.
DNPBASE511 installed DECnet/OSI Base Components
DNPINETGW511 installed DECnet-Internet Gateway
DNPMAN511 installed DECnet/OSI On-line Documentation
DNPMOP511 installed DECnet/OSI MOP Utilities
DNPNETMAN511 installed DECnet/OSI Network Management
DNPUNS511 installed DECnet/OSI Unsupported Software
MCRDNA5130 installed DECmcc DECnet/OSI AM
NSRBASE210 installed DECdns Base Components
NSRMAN210 installed DECdns On-line Documentation
NSRSERV210 installed DECdns Server Components
NSRBASE210 installed DECdns Base Components
NSRMAN210 installed DECdns On-line Documentation
NSRSERV210 installed DECdns Server Components
I have created group. members , access, directories as specified
within the DECMcc V1.3 Installation guide.
DNS setup seems to be ok (see attached).
Is there something that I miss, or is this really a problem ?

When I try to use DECmcc/dns the following happens:
1) iconic map

mcc_iconic_map &
"open domain", filter
I get a "C allocation error"
2) fcl pm, various errors

In order to find out what the DECdns error code is, do
the following:
$ mcc_kill
$ setenv MCC_LOG 1
$ manage
MCC> enroll mcc_domain_fm
MCC> enroll mcc_registration_fm
MCC> create domain test_dns
You'll see the DNS error code.
After you're done, make sure to "unsetenv MCC_LOG" and
mcc_kill and re-enroll the modules.

| Hello,
Here is the response from DECdns people.
Effectively, decmcc installation manual indicates NSRBASE200 (DECdns
Base Components) and TSRBASE200 (DECdts Base Components)
to be installed on the system rather than TSRBASE210
and NSRBASE210 as we have in vbo today.
I would like to know if you plan to re-link mcc with the dns clerk

It appears that you are using DECnet/OSI ULTRIX V5.1A -- MCC needs to relink
with the clerk libraries to work properly. If this is true, then that is
the most likely reason for the CLERKBUG.

| Hello,
I am having very much the same problems as the base noter here.
I have installed Ultrix4.3 and DECnet/OSI for Ultrix 5.1a on DECstation5000/200.
The message I get on "domain" "create" is :
MCC Unhandled service
The requested operation cannot be completed.
%MCC-E-DNS_UNMAPPED_ERROR,
DNS Error: Miscellaneous DNS error not mapped to a DECmcc CVR.
Now as it appears from 5374.3 I need MCC linked for DECnet5.1a.
Is this available?
Where and how do I get it?
Otherwise how else do I overcome this problem?
Please note that I had to install DECnet 5.1a to overcome some other
prblems elswhere and would NOT like to revert back to DECnet5.1 if
it can be helped.

| I had the error message in 5374.4 when using DNS.
I then opted to use Local Name space and then the error message
on "domain" "create" changed to:
The requested operation cannot be completed
MCC Routine Error = %NONAME-E-NOMSG,
message number 000003EA

| Is there now a date for the new version?
Do I really have to revert back to DECnet/OSI 5.1 thus facing the
same problems again because of which I upgraded to 5.1a?
Has anybody got a workaround(?) for this problem?
This is a major setback for me.

BIKINI::MCC_DISK:[BMS013.ULTRIX.PATCH.DNS_51A]*.*
I have not yet tried it, so if it works please reply here.

decnet/osi 5.1A, then mcc 1.3, and then the patch
All seemed ok until I tried to recreate the dns clerk
entity using "create dns clerk" DNSCP reported:
