5354.0. "COLLECTOR hangs, Notofications never Enabled!" by KETJE::PACCO (Gallia divisa est in partes tres) Mon Jul 19 1993 13:59

As from today the event collector does not work any more. It ised to
work for already a long time. Can it be a resource problem?
    Os is it something else?
    I use a DECstation 5000/240 64MB/ 256 MB swap space/175MB is still
free. Although the station is in constant evolution, I cannot associate
    any action to this problem.

    The symptoms are twofold:

    The notification request:
NOTIFY domain xxx entity list (COLLECTOR *), event (any event)
remains in the state "Being Created, Being Enabled"

    The enable request:
manage enable mcc 0 collection_am sink decnet
    	hangs.

I also set setenv MCC_COLLECTION_AM_LOG 0x01, but this gave nothing.
The mcc_collection_am is running, and a show mcc 0 collection_am all
char works. How can we solve this problem now ?

    	Dominique.

5354.1A problem comes, but can also go away !KETJE::PACCOGallia divisa est in partes tresFri Jul 23 1993 05:1912
After a few days "playing" with MCC and trying to isolate this problem,
suddenly this problem desappeared as mysteriously as it came.

Now again, form all notifications the COLLECTOR notifications are the
first to be fully enabled for the iconic map (The collector entities
are the smallest in number for the domains where notifications are
    enabled).

The question "why ?" will remain unanswered.

    	Regards,
    	Dominique.
5354.2Problem is still sleeping ...KETJE::PACCOGallia divisa est in partes tresMon Jul 26 1993 10:482
This problem is seen from a different angle in note 5387.0.
Look at that note for more info.
