Does DECmcc EMS V2.2 and/or BMS V1.2 work/support on a OpenVMS V6.0?

5350.1 | More Memory, Man | RACER::dave | Ahh, but fortunately, I have the key to escape reality. | Mon Jul 19 1993 11:15 | 8 |
I have been running MCC BMS on 6.0 for a few weeks now. The only difference I have seen is that on 6.0, you will need LOTS more memory. The old guidelines for memory are way too small. I was running with PGFLQUOTA set up to 300,000 normally, and if I need to do serious dictionary work, I bump it up to 600,000 pages. I have watched a dictionary update and rebuild in progress, and used 560,000 pages of memory, along with lots of pagefaults. (WSextent was 150,000) (btw, the system is a maxed out 6620 with 512 meg.) | |||||

Why are you still running V1.2???? v1.3 has been out there for about a year now. I don't think engineering can/will give much support for problems reported against an old release. We simply don't have the resources. I'm running VMS v6.0 and DECmcc v1.3 ok, however I needed to force a restore of 3 CMA executables after the install of DECmcc to remove a warning message of incompatability. There's another recent note in here about that so I'll let our CMA/installation expert answer it. |
