Have been asked to install DECmcc V1.3 (Poly Network Mgr 400) for a customer on a new VAX 4000-90 (i.e. VMS). They currently have V1.2 running on another system (which is going away). Am looking for advice/insight/info on the best way to handle the install and details on what files will need to be moved from the current V1.2 system to the new V1.3 system to maintain configuration and alarm rule data. They are using about 2 dozen alarm rules, local MIR (no DNS). Any help would be appreciated. Regards, Pat

Use the SYS$SYSTEM:MCC_ALARMS_EXTRACT_RULES.EXE to save all the rules to a command script. Where is your instance repository (aka DNS)? Is it on the local system or remote? If it is on a remote system then you should be able to install V1.3 on the new system and see registered entities. Defind MCC_MAPS to a fixed location, copy all the map files from the old system to the new system and bring up the IMPM and see if all is well. Load all the alarm rules and test em. if all is well, you are all done. s/rob |
