5293.0. "NODE4 alarm rule is unstoppable" by CUJO::HILL (Dan Hill-Net.Mgt.-Customer Resident) Fri Jul 02 1993 02:55

    The following alarm rule cannot be stopped. MCC hangs and must be
    killed via control-y.

    EXPRESSION=(NODE4 * TYPE = AREA)

    I just want to have the rule run once and then stop. It doesn't stop
    and I can't stop it. Any ideas?

  I'm not sure why the Rule won't stop .. you mean that you Disable
  the rule and then showing the rule state, it still says 'Enabled' ?

  Are you just trying to use Alarm Rules to scan all you nodes in the
  domain to find the Area Routers? You can put a time limit on the
  life of the rule. If you don't specify a time-spec Alarms uses
  the default 'At Every 00:15:00' .. you could do something like:

    at every 01:00:00 until +01:00:00

  This says repeat the rule every hour, but stop it 1 hour after it
  gets enabled. . . Is this what you are looking for ?

5293.2This is good, but why can't I stop the alarm rule?CUJO::HILLDan Hill-Net.Mgt.-Customer ResidentTue Aug 10 1993 13:408
    Keith,

    The syntax you provided is great, but why can't I stop the rule? The
    alarm continues to show "enabled" event though I have issued a
    "disable" command.

    Thanks,
    Dan
